Isn't simply scraping and pasting the Adipose character against copyright law?
Report way I would hate to have to return the favour... I am not setting precedent laws by taking and sketching existing images and substantially altering them. Andy Whorhol did it with tins of Heinz Baked Beans and a photo of Marylin Monroe but there have been many recent examples including one involving a poster used in the campaign to elect Obama to the presidency.
For example I posted a picture of the Mona Lisa and claimed copyright - THAT would be clear breach of copyright. If however a I photoshopped a chimp's face on her while she was driving a car - entailing a significant amount of work involved in the change - THAT is not.
To be extreme ANY representation of, say, the TARDIS (or even an Edinburgh-style Police Box) - even a pencil sketch - is an infringement of intellectual and copyright law since the BBC OWN the patent to it...
Were copyright law were to be applied equally across Deviant Art then half of the content of the area would have to be removed - including a couple or four of your submissions. The Manga section would have to be taken down for a start - followed by all of the iconic images created by (Cocoa Cola, DC Comics, Apple Computers, Marvel, The BBC, et al...)
In addition - a recent court case proved that faces cannot be copyrighted.
The sixth part of dA's Infringement policy states "If you believe that a submission on dA infringes upon YOUR copyright you may either report the submission using our internal reporting system or send us a copyright notice via email." This implies that unless you are laying claim the Doctor Who copyright then the burden of complaint does not rest with you.
Should you STILL think that the BBC is so zealous over abuses of their copyright the you should visit Rich Harris' excellent "Ten Doctors" comic series at... [link] which has been going on for years with the BBC's full assent.
Finally, I have never claimed copyright on the images, once again - given the current problem that are besetting the world and its economy - sketches which are then digitally enhanced and posted on the web would be to be very small fry to go chasing after...
Hoped you like the submissions anyway!
